AWS is driving a major change in how independent software vendors (ISVs) go to market, shifting them from being pure software partners to end-to-end solution companies. The market, including major global governments and enterprises, no longer wants piecemeal components but seeks pre-integrated solutions that deliver rapid outcomes. This means successful ISVs are packaging their software, integration services, and managed services into a single motion and selling it through the AWS Marketplace. This convergence model is crucial because the Marketplace has evolved into a key distribution layer that accelerates procurement and delivers customer value more quickly. In fact, AWS Marketplace revenue for surveyed sellers grew 41% faster than their overall software sales.
To maximize this opportunity, ISVs must strategically combine the power of Marketplace with a structured Co-sell strategy, as the two are designed to work together. The single most important action for ISVs to take immediately is to publish or refine their value proposition inside AWS Partner Central, ensuring it is clear, simple, and aligned with AWS services and seller interests. Furthermore, ISVs are advised to verticalize their offerings by building industry-specific use cases, aligning their architectures with AWS blueprints, and integrating with common customer systems such as ERPs. Prioritizing the ISV Accelerate program, achieving AWS Competency, and leveraging Co-sell Readiness are the three essential steps for resource-constrained partners to unlock their full potential.
